Licensing Guide

Find the right license
for your project.

The right license depends on how and where you use the font, not on who you are.

Each license below includes a Do/Don't list and a full tier table.

Desktop License
For design software on computers — logos, print, packaging, social media images.

In plain terms: Install the font on your computer and use it in apps like Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, or Word. Designs you create can be published anywhere, as long as the font is not embedded as live, selectable text.

✓ You can
  • Install on computers up to your tier
  • Design logos, branding, and identity systems
  • Create print: books, magazines, packaging, posters
  • Export images for websites or social media
  • Embed in PDFs for print or distribution
  • Use for client work — covers you as the designer
✕ You can't
  • Install on more computers than your tier
  • Share the font files with your client
  • Embed as live text on a website
  • Use inside a mobile or desktop app
  • Redistribute or resell the font files
Tiers — number of users (seats)

A "user" is one person with the font installed. A computer shared by multiple people counts as multiple users.

Web Font License
For websites where the font renders as live, selectable text via CSS.

In plain terms: Use the WOFF/WOFF2 files with @font-face in CSS so visitors see the font as actual text, not an image. This covers headings, body copy, navigation, and any other live text on a website.

✓ You can
  • Use the font as live text on websites
  • Host WOFF/WOFF2 files on your own server or CDN
  • Use across all pages of the same domain
  • Use on client websites (priced per site's pageviews)
✕ You can't
  • Allow visitors to download the font files
  • Exceed monthly pageviews beyond your tier
  • Use in an app's webview — needs an App license
  • Use on SaaS products beyond appropriate tier

Check Google Analytics or your hosting stats. If in doubt, round up to the next tier.

ePub License
For digital publications — e-books, digital magazines, and interactive PDFs.

In plain terms: Embed the font inside a digital publication file (ePub, PDF) distributed to readers. Each distinct publication counts as one title, not each copy sold.

✓ You can
  • Embed in ePub, PDF, and digital publication formats
  • Distribute to unlimited readers
  • Sell on Kindle, Apple Books, Gumroad, etc.
  • Publish revised editions without a new license
✕ You can't
  • Publish more titles than your tier allows
  • Allow readers to extract font files
  • Use the same license for a website or app

A 3-volume series = 3 titles. A revised edition of the same title does not count as a new title.

Digital Ads License
For HTML5 banners and dynamic ads served on third-party websites.

In plain terms: Embed the font in animated HTML5 banner creatives served through ad networks on websites you don't own. Priced by total ad impressions delivered.

✓ You can
  • Embed in HTML5 banner ad creatives
  • Serve via Google Ads, Meta, programmatic networks
  • Run multiple campaigns under one license
  • Use across multiple banner sizes per campaign
✕ You can't
  • Exceed total impressions beyond your tier
  • Use for static image ads (needs Desktop license)
  • Use for ads inside an app (needs App license)

Impressions = total times the ad is displayed across all placements. Find this in your ad platform's reporting dashboard.

App License
For embedding inside iOS, Android, Windows, Linux, and other platform apps.

In plain terms: Bundle the font inside an application that end-users download and install. The font is part of the app's UI, not used by the user in a creative tool. Priced by number of app installs.

✓ You can
  • Embed in iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, Linux apps
  • Use for the app's UI typography
  • Distribute via any app store or direct download
  • Cover multiple app versions under the same license
✕ You can't
  • Exceed app downloads beyond your tier
  • Allow users to extract or install the font themselves
  • Use in a font management or design tool app
